At the outset, the Indian Ocean - In 1981, freelance newsman
Maurice Botbol founded the Indigo Publications group and launched
The Indian Ocean Newsletter, with the intention of examining political power plays, struggles for influence and major economic issues in East Africa, southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands.
International Profile - Over the years, Indigo Publications expanded with the same objectives in mind by launching other publications that dealt respectively with West Africa, North Africa, the energy and mining industries, intelligence, business intelligence and the like. The group now publishes
eight confidential newsletters, most of them in French and in English.

Biographies - In 1995, the group began publishing a series of biographical reference works "The Top 100 People." Each work in the series presents the exclusive biographies of 100 true decision-makers in an African country.
Online Information - Starting from 1995, Indigo Publications positioned itself as a pioneer of online information, by launching the first Web site for strategic decision-making:
Intelligence Online. In 1996, the group put the first professional portal on Africa on line,
Africa Intelligence, which encompasses all of the Indigo group's publications on Africa.
Business Intelligence & lobbying - Becoming the French standard-setter on business intelligence, Indigo Publications put out a series of biographical works "Intelligence Online Reports" in 2004. The only publication of its kind, the first in the series "The Top 100 in Business Intelligence" presented the biographies of the 100 true decision-makers in the field in France. A second work appeared in 2005 and described the 100 leading players in corporate lobbying.
Power plays in France -
Indigo Publications acquired
La Lettre A, a publication founded in 1978 that examines the leading political and economic developments in France. At the same time the group inaugurated a Web site
LaLettreA.fr.
Independent press -
Indigo Publications is one of the founding members of the Syndicat de la Presse Independante d'Information en Ligne (SPIIL) that was formed in October, 2009.
Entourages 2012 -
To mark publication of its 1500th issue, La Lettre A moved to build up its internet footprint by creating a sister site named Entourages 2012. The online publication (available only in French) will report on the presidential campaign in France until May 2012 and examine the major issues likely to face the new government.
